HEAD OF BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AND COMMERCIAL ANALYTICS

We are seeking an exceptional, commercially astute business leader to lead the Business Intelligence and Commercial Analytics function. The successful candidate will combine strong analytical capability with detailed product, retail and operational understanding, translating data into practical actions that improve turnover, margins, stock availability and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Business Intelligence and Commercial Analytics function.
  • Establish a reliable company-wide single source of truth for reporting and performance measurement.
  • Translate sales, stock, customer, margin and operational data into clear commercial recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer numbers, basket size, product attachment, margins and stock availability.
  • Develop management dashboards and performance indicators across stores, supply chain, distribution, logistics, finance, marketing, corporate sales and the call centre.
  • Lead product and customer master-data governance.
  • Work closely with management and operational teams to turn insights into measurable action.
  • Guide the practical introduction of secure AI and automation tools into the BI function.
  • Recruit, lead and develop the supporting BI team.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Bachelors Degree. 
  • Strong commercial and business acumen, with the credibility to engage at executive and operational levels.
  • Substantial experience in retail, wholesale, distribution, hardware, electrical, building materials or a similarly product-intensive environment.
  • Excellent understanding of products, categories, pricing, margins, stock management, replenishment and branch operations.
  • Strong analytical capability and experience with business systems, ERP data, dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Proven ability to connect data with real-world commercial and operational activity.
  • Practical, inquisitive and action-oriented approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Previous leadership or cross-functional management experience.
  • Relevant commercial, finance, supply chain, information systems or analytical qualifications would be advantageous.
