Job Description:

Our client is a commercial horticultural producer that specializes in high-value blueberry production for the international export market. Operating across 70 hectares with plans to expand to 160 hectares, they are seeking an experienced Berry Section Supervisor to oversee daily field activities, manage work teams, and maintain top-tier crop yields and export quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Field Management:

  • Plan, execute, and monitor all daily growing, pruning, spraying, and harvesting tasks within assigned farm sections.
  • Organize and supervise field teams to ensure 100% completion of scheduled agronomic programs.
  • Maximize team productivity through efficient labour allocation, clear task setting, and active field supervision.
  • Ensure seamless flow of harvested fruit from field to packhouse while maintaining strict quality controls.

Compliance, Audits & Reporting:

  • Implement and enforce GlobalGAP and SMETA standards across daily section activities to guarantee food safety, worker health, and ethical trade practices.
  • Maintain complete audit readiness across assigned field areas at all times.
  • Prepare accurate weekly and monthly crop performance reports, including yield forecasts and input tracking.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and direction to field workers and team leaders to build strong technical skills.
  • Manage worker performance against daily yield and quality targets.
  • Fairly resolve team conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policy and labor standards.
  • Foster a disciplined culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence on the farm.

Candidate Profile & Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven track record in agricultural or horticultural supervision. Prior experience in commercial berry, fruit, or high-value export crop production is highly preferred.
  • Leadership: Strong hands-on supervisor capable of motivating, managing, and organizing large field teams.
  • Standards: Solid practical knowledge of international export standards (GlobalGAP and SMETA).
  • Skills: Good organizational, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Attributes: Energetic, detail-oriented, and able to deliver consistent results in a fast-paced farming environment.
