Chipinge, Zimbabwe (Eastern Highlands)

COMPANY OVERVIEW 

Our client is a leading agricultural operation with established estates in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. The business has a long-standing presence in the region and has diversified its operations to include macadamia production alongside its core estate crops. The macadamia division is a growing part of the operation, with continued investment in orchard development and production.

ROLE OVERVIEW 

The Section Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of a designated macadamia section, covering orchard husbandry, labour management, and production targets. The role reports into the estate's senior agricultural management and requires a hands-on individual able to manage field operations and deliver against production and quality targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all field operations within the section, including planting, pruning, irrigation, fertilisation, and pest and disease control.
  • Plan and oversee harvesting to ensure nuts are picked, collected, and delivered to the factory or collection point timeously and at the correct maturity.
  • Manage section labour, including supervision, discipline, training, and productivity of field staff.
  • Monitor and report on section production, yields, and costs against budget.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards on the section.
  • Maintain section infrastructure, including irrigation equipment, roads, and access within the orchard.
  • Liaise with other section managers and senior management on planning, resourcing, and estate-wide operations.
  • Maintain accurate section records for production, labour, and input use.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A relevant agricultural qualification, diploma or degree in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in estate or orchard management, ideally within macadamia, tree crop, or horticultural production.
  • Sound knowledge of orchard husbandry practices, including irrigation, fertilisation, and pest and disease management.
  • Proven experience managing field labour on a commercial scale.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Willingness to be based in Chipinge and work on the estate.
