Stores Officer

Location: Tanzania
Department: Stores / Warehouse / Operations
Reports to: Stores Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable and organised Stores Officer to support the effective day-to-day management of warehouse and inventory operations within an established organisation in Tanzania.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate receiving, storage, issuing and dispatch of goods, while maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring company inventory, safety and security procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect incoming goods and materials, verifying quantities and condition against relevant documentation.
  • Arrange, label and store stock correctly to ensure efficient retrieval and inventory control.
  • Issue materials and supplies to authorised employees and departments.
  • Maintain accurate stock records, inventory documentation and movement records.
  • Monitor stock levels and promptly report shortages, discrepancies or unusual stock movements.
  • Assist with regular stock counts and periodic stocktakes, investigating and reporting variances.
  • Prepare and organise goods for dispatch and delivery.
  • Report damaged, expired, missing or incorrectly supplied items.
  • Assist with the safe loading and unloading of incoming and outgoing goods.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and secure stores/warehouse environment.
  • Support the Stores Manager with general warehouse and inventory activities.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company procedures for inventory control, safety and security.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a practical, detail-oriented individual with previous experience in a stores, warehouse or inventory-control environment.

They should demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in stores, warehousing, stock control or a similar operational role.
  • Good understanding of inventory and stock-control procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when receiving, issuing and recording stock.
  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to identify and report stock discrepancies promptly.
