Job Description:

Our client in the Agricultural sector is seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join their team in Ruwa.

Job Purpose:

To carry out maintenance, servicing, and repair of company vehicles and equipment, including heavy trucks and light motor vehicles, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transport operations supporting poultry production activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Class 1 or Class 2 Motor Mechanic qualification (Journeyman/Trade Tested)
  • Valid and recognized Motor Mechanic certification
  • Defensive Driving Certificate (added advantage)
  • Valid Class 2 or Class 4 Driver's Licence (preferred)

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3–4 years' hands-on experience as a qualified Motor Mechanic
  • Proven experience working with:
    • UD Trucks
    • DAF Trucks
    • Light motor vehicles (diesel & petrol)
  • Experience in an agricultural or fleet environment will be an added advantage

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service and repair UD and DAF trucks
  • Service and maintain light motor vehicles
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance checks
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
  • Carry out engine overhauls where required
  • Maintain braking systems, suspension, steering and drivetrain components
  • Attend to breakdowns on-site and off-site when required
  • Ensure vehicles comply with safety and roadworthiness standards
  • Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good condition
  • Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately
  • Assist with fleet inspections and planning of scheduled servicing
  • Ensure adherence to company safety procedures and workshop SOPs

Key Competencies:

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to work under pressure in a production environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail and safety awareness

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to attend breakdowns at breeder sites, hatchery, and other company locations
  • May be required to work overtime or weekends when operationally necessary
