FARM MANAGER

Company Overview

  • Our client is a leading pasture based dairy operation, supplying high quality raw milk to a major dairy processor.
  • The business runs a pasture based breeding and milk production system focused on herd health, productivity and sustainability.

Role Overview

  • Our client is looking for an experienced Farm Manager to take responsibility for the day to day running of the dairy operation.
  • The role requires strong livestock management skills and sound pasture management knowledge to maintain herd health, productivity and milk quality within a pasture based system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the dairy herd, including breeding, health, nutrition and general welfare.
  • Manage pasture planning, grazing rotations and fodder production to support the pasture based system.
  • Supervise and lead farm staff, including labour scheduling and performance management.
  • Monitor milk production and quality, working closely with the processing and logistics teams.
  • Manage farm equipment, infrastructure and general maintenance.
  • Control farm budgets, input costs and stock records.
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare, health and safety, and relevant agricultural regulations.
  • Report regularly to senior management on production performance and farm operations.

Requirements

  • A relevant agricultural qualification (Diploma or Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture or related field).
  • Proven experience managing a dairy or livestock farming operation, ideally pasture based.
  • Strong practical knowledge of livestock husbandry, breeding and animal health.
  • Solid understanding of pasture management, grazing systems and fodder production.
  • Good staff management and leadership ability.
  • Valid driver's licence.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within a large scale or commercial dairy operation.
  • Exposure to pasture based dairy systems specifically, rather than feedlot models.
  • Experience managing farm budgets and production reporting.
