SALES & BRANCH ADMINISTRATOR
Location: Bulawayo, with regular travel across Matabeleland
Company Overview
Our client is a well-established and growing poultry business that supplies high-quality day-old chicks to farmers across Zimbabwe. It is opening a small office in Bulawayo to serve customers in Matabeleland more directly.
Role Overview
The Sales & Branch Administrator will be the company's face in Bulawayo and Matabeleland. The role is mainly about growing sales and looking after customers in the region, and also covers running the small office and co-ordinating chick deliveries from Harare to customers. It suits a practical, self-driven person who already knows the region's poultry farmers and agricultural market.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and customer management
- Grow sales of day-old chicks across Bulawayo and Matabeleland, from small-scale farmers to commercial growers
- Build and maintain relationships with existing customers, and find and sign up new ones
- Take orders and bookings, and match them to hatch and delivery schedules with head office
- Visit customers and farming areas regularly, and gather feedback on the market and competitors
- Follow up on payments and make sure customer accounts are kept up to date
- Report weekly on sales, orders and market activity
Logistics and transshipment
- Co-ordinate the arrival of chick consignments from Harare and onward delivery to customers
- Plan delivery routes and schedules across the region with drivers or transporters
- Make sure chicks are handled, stored and delivered correctly and on time, following biosecurity and welfare procedures
- Keep accurate dispatch, delivery and proof of delivery records
Office administration
- Run the day-to-day administration of the Bulawayo office
- Handle invoicing, receipting, petty cash and basic record keeping
- Manage office supplies and liaise with head office on admin and finance matters
Requirements
- Proven sales experience in poultry, stockfeed, agricultural inputs or a similar field, ideally in Bulawayo and Matabeleland
- Good knowledge of the region's farming community and market
- Organised, with good administration and record-keeping skills
- Confident with customers and comfortable working independently
- Good computer skills, including Excel
- Clean driver's licence and willingness to travel in the region
- Fluent in English and Ndebele
Preferred Experience
- Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Sales & Marketing, Business or a related field
- Experience co-ordinating deliveries or dispatch of perishable or live products
