Job Description:

An established enterprise in the agriculture and fresh produce distribution sector is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Warehouse & Distribution Manager for their Sales, Marketing & Distribution division. The successful candidate will lead depot operations, fleet logistics, cold-chain maintenance, stock control, and distribution networks to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality customer order fulfilment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Distribution & Fleet Logistics: Deliver customer orders in full, on time, and to required quality standards across all channels. Schedule suitable transport, maintain fleet availability, negotiate third-party rates, and monitor truck utilization, delivery compliance, and route profitability across retail and van-sales operations.
  • Demand Planning & Forecasting: Prepare weekly demand and supply forecasts in coordination with production/grower teams and sales to optimize opening and delivery plans.
  • Inventory & Asset Management: Maintain cold-store capacity, serviceability, produce quality, and ripening performance while minimizing waste. Enforce depot stock controls, SOPs, IT systems, and route debriefs to prevent stock-outs, losses, and inventory discrepancies. Manage crate and bin availability, maintenance, and accountability.
  • Operations & Facility Management: Oversee depot hygiene, facilities, security, licenses, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Team Leadership & Performance: Lead depot teams and shift rosters (including night loading), set performance targets, coach staff, and manage productivity using KPI reporting to improve overall operational fulfillment, quality, costs, and utilization.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant Business-related Degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in warehouse management, fleet logistics, and distribution operations.
  • Hands-on experience in cold-chain operations and fresh produce handling is highly advantageous.
  • Proven capability in demand planning, transport scheduling, fleet utilization, and route-cost management.
  • Strong command of stock control, quality assurance, hygiene, safety, security, and SOP compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, with a data-driven approach to tracking KPIs and driving team performance.
