Job Description:
ELECTRICIAN – MANUFACTURING
We are looking for a skilled Class 1 Electrician to join our Maintenance Department and support the reliable operation of plant and production equipment within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and servicing of plant machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and PLC-controlled equipment, including VSDs, sensors, motors, and control systems.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize electrical downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and after-hours callouts, ensuring effective first-time repairs.
- Maintain accurate job cards, maintenance records, spare parts inventories, and operational reports.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Support production teams in achieving optimum equipment efficiency and recommend cost-effective technical improvements.
- Ensure electrical systems and equipment operate safely and consistently to maintain product quality.
- Adhere to all industrial safety standards, PPE requirements, housekeeping procedures, and statutory regulations.
- Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to resolve faults and maintain continuous plant operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Class 1 Electrician qualification.
- 3–5 years' relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably plastics processing.
- Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, VSDs, sensors, motors, and industrial control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer literacy, particularly MS Excel for reporting.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work shifts and respond to after-hours callouts.
